Step-by-step instruction to making SPONGE CAKE

Method: -

1) Preheat the Oven to 190°C
2) Whisk the Sugar and Eggs in a mixing bowl until the mixture is thick and fluffy and leaves a trail when you lift up the whisk.
3) Add Vanilla essence.
4) Fold in the Plain/Wholemeal flour lightly and gently with a spatula.
5) Pour the mixture into a well-greased cake tin dusted with flour.
6) Bake for 10-15 minutes.
Try it YOUR way!!!! =)
1) melted fat added
- final product will be most moist
2) chocolate sponge cake
- 1 tbsp of cocoa powder
- sifted the cocoa powder with the flour before you fold it in the mixture
3) steamed sponge cake
-prepare steamer
- pour the mixture into a medium size bowl
- cover the top of the bowls with greaseproof paper
-Steam for 20-25 mins
